Dr. Randy Machen opened Little Rock Family Dental Care in 1992 so families would never have to travel between dental offices. Today our general dentists work alongside a prosthodontist, an oral surgeon and an anesthesia team, and we are still locally owned.

Meet our founder
Raised in Magnolia, a Southern Arkansas University biology graduate and a University of Tennessee dentist since 1987. He has spent more than thirty years building a practice where a family’s cleanings, crowns, implants and sleep apnea care all happen in one place.
Our dentists include a prosthodontist and an oral surgeon, and many have more than 30 years of experience. Instead of traveling between offices for a specialist, you stay with a team you already know.
Merged his solo practice with ours in May 2020, after more than 30 years in dentistry. Over 3,000 hours of continuing education, and adjunct faculty at UAMS.

The problem: being sent to a surgeon across town, then back again.
Our oral surgeons place the implant and Dr. Scallion, our prosthodontist, restores it, with a cone beam CT scan to plan it. Single teeth, implant dentures and All-on-4 or All-on-6.
The problem: dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, or a lot of work to do.
Nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation and IV sedation, with a certified anesthetist on our team monitoring your vitals throughout.

Dr. Machen has lived with sleep apnea himself. A WatchPAT sleep study at home, then a custom oral appliance, which most major medical plans, Medicare included, help cover.

Common questions
Most likely. We are in-network with Delta Dental Premier, we accept most PPO plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Guardian, MetLife and Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, and we file your claims for you. Call and tell us who you are enrolled with for a complimentary benefits review. If we are out of network, we still file the claim to get you the maximum reimbursement.
Yes. Tell us when you call. We offer nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation and IV sedation, and there is a certified anesthetist on our team. With IV sedation you stay conscious and responsive but most people remember very little of the visit. You will need someone to drive you home.
Call us. We make every effort to see you the same day, our oral surgeon is on staff, and we accept emergency calls after regular business hours. While you wait, our team can give you first-aid tips over the phone.
We welcome children aged 4 and up, from routine checkups to specialized care.
A minor cavity can usually be repaired in one appointment with a tooth-colored filling, and unlike most dental offices, we can place a crown in a single appointment. More involved cases take more visits, and we will give you a timeline when we see you.
Yes. We offer CandidPro, a clear aligner system that gradually shifts your teeth with a series of transparent trays. It suits mild to moderate alignment problems.
Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel, and we will happily reschedule. Cancellations with less notice incur a fee.
Our Midtown office has relocated, and all appointments are now seen at 4220 N. Rodney Parham Rd., Suite 200, Little Rock, AR 72212, on the second floor of the Simmons Bank building.
